I talked to Sylvia Lavallee who works at the Maison d’Or here in St. Augustine. She is very important to the residents of the Maison d’Or.
Jersey Driscoll: What do you like best about your job and why is it important?
Sylvia Lavallee: The best thing about my job is taking care of the seniors.
JD: What do you like to be called?
SL: Sissy.
JD: Do you have any kids?
SL: One.
JD: What influenced you to work at the Maison d’Or?
SL: Myself, because I like taking care of the seniors.
JD: What kind of education do you need for your job?
SL: C. P. R. course and all my secondary and elementary school years.
JD: What were some important events in your life when you were a child?
SL: We went to Montréal as a class and visited everywhere.
JD: What have been some highlights or important events in your adult life?
SL: When the kids of pre-k and kindergarten came here every Mother’s day and Christmas to sing us songs.
JD: What special interests do you have?
SL: We play bingo, card games, have tea parties and barbeques, and participate in color me rad.
JD: Do you have any advice for the kids reading our blog?
SL: Well, no advice, but maybe one of these times you can come help us out at the Maison d’Or.
